The Geelong Rifle Club welcomes those interested in long range shooting to come and try their hand at full bored rifle shooting on our allocated practice days.
Bookings are essential, allowing us to prepare for and provide the best experience possible for you. Ultimately, our goal is to introduce and encourage new people to the sport who will become enthusiastic long range shooters and potentially long term club members.
Due to requirements of the Licensing and Regulation Division of Victoria Police, the minimum age to use a firearm is 12 years old. This also applies to our Come & Try Sessions. Please see the link below for further on licensing.

Come & try target rifle shooting.
You might surprise yourself with your score!
Frequently Asked Questions
What’s included in a Come & Try session?
$60 per person – this includes ammunition and insurance. 10 x shots with 2 x optional sighters at 300m using a .223 under supervision from a licensed firearm holder. Hearing protection is available, however you are more than welcome to bring your own.
Can I shoot another range?
We are often fully booked with Come & Try sessions, however if you are interested in shooting a second range, please add this to your registration. Depending on the ranges open on the day, the opportunity to shoot at 500m may be available.
What do I need to bring?
We recommend bringing something warm to wear as it can be cool within the range as the air conditioner must remain on whilst shooting in progress. As stated above, if you have hearing protection that you wish to wear, please feel free to bring it along though hearing protection is available on the day.
A firearms license is not required for your Come & Try session as you will be shooting under the supervision of a registered firearms license holder. However please let us know if you already have your license on your registration form.
